Have you noticed that the most attractive people almost always have balanced faces with strong, projected jawlines? If you’re less than happy with your own appearance, the fault could lie with your chin.
A disproportionate chin can exaggerate the size of your nose and give you an undefined look. Chin implants are a simple, in-office procedure that only takes about an hour. And with the right shape and size, a chin implant can dramatically improve the look of your other features.
Board-certified surgeon Mustafa Ahmed, MD, offers chin implants as part of the comprehensive lineup of services at Las Vegas Body Sculpting and Aesthetic in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you’re curious about whether a chin implant can help you get the look you want, but not sure whether it’s the right procedure for you, we can help.

How can I tell if my chin is the problem?
The best way to tell if it’s your chin that’s creating issues or another feature that’s throwing off your face is to consult with an expert like Dr. Ahmed. At Las Vegas Body Sculpting and Aesthetic, we offer a variety of facial implants from your chin to your cheeks and jaw to your temples. Dr. Ahmed offers a free consultation to help you understand which problems areas can benefit most.
Generally speaking, your profile can appear weak when your chin looks smaller than the rest of your features. Sometimes a large nose can draw attention away from your chin and lips. Other times, a recessed jaw can exaggerate the size of your nose or the “weakness” of your chin.
Your chin should project far enough forward that a pencil held vertically against your lips touches the tip of your chin. If your chin doesn’t touch the pencil, it’s probably recessed and is what makes your profile look weak.
Dr. Ahmed conducts a thorough exam with additional measurements to suggest the right course of treatment for your goals. He may recommend strengthening your profile with a chin implant or the use of the other appropriate treatments depending on your unique needs.
What is a chin implant?
A chin implant is a silicone piece inserted into your chin to adjust its shape and size. It’s an outpatient procedure that’s completed quickly and safely using local anesthesia.
Dr. Ahmed usually makes an incision inside your mouth to hide any scarring or evidence of the implant. Depending on the size of the implant, however, he may make the incision underneath your chin. The size, shape, and type of silicone implant Dr. Ahmed chooses are in line with the goals you have for your face to give you the best results possible.
What can I expect after my chin implant?
You may feel slightly sore and swollen for a few days after your chin implant appointment. Most patients recover quickly after receiving a chin implant and control any discomfort with over-the-counter pain alleviators and ice.
About one week after your chin implant is inserted, you return to the office to have your stitches removed and for a quick check on your recovery. You may continue to have mild swelling for 3-4 weeks after your procedure, and you should avoid strenuous activity until it subsides to allow your body to heal.
As time passes, the tissues in your chin fuse with the chin implant to keep it solidly in place. However, if you later decide to remove or change your implant for another shape, replacing or removing it is a simple procedure.
If you’re ready to look as confident as you feel, a chin implant can help. To learn more, contact Dr. Ahmed for a free consultation or request an appointment online now!
