The Breast Lift is also called mastopexy by patients and is a procedure to enhance and address breast size, shape, volume and droopy breast tissue.
The Breast Lift procedure is performed to improve and enhance the overall appearance of your breasts, while correcting shape.
Over time, the breasts can sag and fall, which can affect your self-esteem. The breast lift is also called a mastopexy. In the procedure, the excess skin is removed, while also raising the breasts back into a more uplifted position.
Women often complain that the areola has become enlarged and the breast lift addresses this concern as well. As we age our breasts may droop, sag and lose their youthful shape. Pregnancy and nursing can also result in breasts losing their shape and firmness. Additionally, losing a lot of weight can leave your breasts looking saggy with very little volume.
This procedure really gives patients a renewed, more youthful contour. However, it cannot increase volume, so if you desire your breasts to be fuller, the breast lift is performed at the same time with breast augmentation. The Breast Lift has increased in popularity over the past decade. Dr. Mustafa Ahmed will provide you with expert advice and care so you can achieve natural looking, wonderfully contoured breasts.
There are a variety of incision patterns used to perform the breast lift procedure. The selection that is right for you and the desired results will be determined during your consult. On the day of your surgery, Dr. Ahmed will mark your breasts with the selected pattern. With the incisions, the breast tissue will be lifted to improve the supporting contour of your breasts.
The areola and nipple will be resized and repositioned and the excess skin is removed. There will be some incision lines and Dr. Ahmed will follow the natural contour of your new breasts. With the breast lift, there are some visible scars that will diminish and fade considerably over time. If volume is desired, implants will be placed during the procedure, providing you with a more youthful silhouette.
LV Body sculpting follows the American Society of Plastic Surgeons guidelines for recovery. Following a breast lift, your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressing or an elastic bandage or sports bra. You will be given specific postoperative care instructions and you should carefully adhere to those instructions. You will schedule a follow-up appointment with Dr. Ahmed before you leave. Your prescribed medications may include pain pills and an antibiotic to prevent infection and in most cases, these medications will be prescribed ahead of your surgery. You are required to wear your support garment (a bra or elastic band, called a bandeau) around the clock as instructed by Dr. Ahmed. This will provide support for healing. You may also have drains placed to remove any excess fluid or blood. It is important to give yourself time to heal. The pain after surgery will subside after one to five days. It is not uncommon to experience some swelling and pain for a few weeks. Resume exercise and normal activity according to Dr. Ahmed’s directions.
During your consult, Dr. Ahmed will go over your desired results with you. It is important that you discuss your concerns and the things you are most unhappy with about your breasts. Dr. Ahmed will review the appropriate process that will address size, volume, the size of the areolas, and the amount of extra skin that should be removed and whether or not you will need an implant to address volume. Your desire for a positive body image, confidence and well-being are important considerations for this procedure.
