On the day of your procedure, you will need to arrive in comfortable clothing that you can easily remove. Your anesthesiologist will place you under anesthesia. Dr. Ahmed will cleanse your skin and mark it for surgery. He will make a thin incision to create a pocket in your breast tissue to place the implant. There are several types of incisions he can make depending on the size of the implant. For smaller implants, Dr. Ahmed can make an incision around the nipple (periareolar incision) or he can insert the implant through the armpit with a thin (transaxillary) incision. For larger implants, he can place it through an incision along the lower breast fold (inframammary incision). Depending on your aesthetic goals, he will place the implant in front of the muscle (subglandular placement) or behind it (submuscular placement). He will close the incision with sutures.

Recovery

Full recovery from breast implants can take several weeks. Although most patients can return to work after 5-7 days, making lifestyle changes will be important for the best results. Initial swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common following the procedure. You will need to avoid intense physical exercise for 3-4 weeks and take care of your incisions properly.
