Brow lifts are performed under general anesthesia and take approximately one to two hours. Depending on the predetermined technique, incisions are made on either the hairline or the scalp. The skin is lifted, fat and tissue are removed as necessary, and muscle is moved accordingly. The skin is then pulled to create the desired aesthetic, and the remaining skin is excised. Temporary sutures are then used to close the incisions, and bandages are placed.
After brow lift surgery, the incision locations are wrapped in bandages and possibly tape, and drains may be placed to drain fluid. You can shower the next day. Bruising and swelling are common in the first couple of weeks after surgery. After this period, you should be free to continue your normal routine; this will be better assessed during your follow-up visit.
